This month’s meeting was a zoom style meeting with Nigel Saunders, best known for his YouTube channel ‘The Bonsai Zone’
Nigel spoke to the MBS members about the following topics:
- Recent development in bonsai: Nigel mentioned he saw a shift towards native species away from traditional Japanese species
- The effects of climate change: Nigel spoke about heatwaves and cold winters and the challenges they bring to keeping bonsai
- New stock in his collection
- New development around his bonsai garden with a special mention to his new poly tunnel
This was followed by members asking further questions which were duly answered by Nigel. They ranged from his YouTube channel history to the structure of the meetings and shows of the bonsai societies he is part of.
