Mame bonsai are miniature Japanese bonsai trees that measure no more than 10 cm (4 inches) in height.
These Mame (“bean”) bonsai may fit in the palm of your hand, but their miniature stature makes them surprisingly demanding. Because the soil volume is so small, it dries out quickly, so consistent, gentle watering is essential—especially on warm, sunny days.
Their compact roots also mean they are more sensitive to over‑watering; aim for a light soak when the top ½ inch feels dry.
With careful attention to moisture and a bit of love, these little trees will thrive and continue to delight with their graceful, refined forms.
