This evening we welcomed our old friend Malcolm Hughes, well known Bonsai enthusiast/expert.
His attendance came on the back of a Zoom call/meeting which we had had with Nigel Saunders of the Bonsai Zone in Canada when we had spent the evening chatting about bonsai in general, local conditions affecting tree development and how to enjoy the hobby.
Malcolm thus decided to focus on problems which might have been experienced by our members this year given the hot dry summer which we have had and how to deal with them. Some members had brought trees which were showing signs of distress of one sort and another so these specimens were used to illustrate the advice being given.
We think members went home safe in the knowledge that they would be better able to deal with the next hot, dry summer should we get one!
